CDXZipStream

Welcome to the CDXZipStream May 2016 Newsletter

CDXZipStream is now faster than ever when you update your databases, so if you currently own 64-bit CDXZipStream, get the latest version by just downloading the free trial available from the website or from this newsletter's list of links.  We also review the one-year maintenance subscription available for both basic and premium ZIP Code feeds, and introduce our latest tutorial covering the use of the Bing Maps function CDXRouteBing for calculating travel time and distance and getting route directions.

The Latest (and Fastest) Version of CDXZipStream

Software SpeedWe've made some programming changes to CDXZipStream to make it faster and more efficient whenever you update your databases.  If you currently use the 64-bit, Bing-compatible CDXZipStream, you can get the latest version by simply downloading the free trial available from the website or this newsletter's list of links on the right.

If you are still using the classic 32-bit CDXZipStream, you can obtain the latest version free with purchase of a one-year maintenance subscription, which includes 12 monthly ZIP Code updates.  After signing into your CDXTech.com account, select "Buy Data Update" from the account area, and once the purchase is complete, you can activate the new version by downloading the trial.  Maintenance subscriptions are $39.95 for the basic ZIP Code database and $129.95 for premium ZIP Code data; the premium data is provided with premium demographic versions of CDXZipStream.

Maintenance Subscriptions for CDXZipStream

With the introduction of the 64-bit Bing-compatible version of CDXZipStream late last year, we now provide a one-year, renewable software maintenance subscription included with purchase.  The subscription provides 12 months of ZIP Code data updates along with unlimited technical support.

It's also very fast and easy to install the monthly updates, and now you can do it without leaving Microsoft Excel.  Just click on the "Account" icon on the CDXZipStream commandbar, and then click "Check for Available Database Updates".   If a new database is available, click the highlighted "Update" button on the right.  You can update all data this way, including the Application (ZIP Code), Canadian, and CDXTract databases:

As an alternative, you can also sign into the website, and from the Account area, click on "Download Data Files".  Available files for your software version will be listed; click on each one to download, and then run the installation file.  You can download data updates from your website account for both current and older versions of CDXZipStream.

The U.S. Postal Service updates ZIP Code data monthly, and there are frequent removals/additions to the ZIP Code listing.  This month there was a major update involving 1,286 changes to the database.  A one-year maintenance subscription for basic ZIP Code data is $39.95, and for the premium database (available with demographic versions of CDXZipStream) the annual subscription is $129.95.  To purchase maintenance subscriptions select "Buy Data Update" from your account area of CDXTech.com.

Using Bing Maps to Get Route Data

The CDXRouteBing function of CDXZipStream uses Bing Maps as the source of mapping data in order to calculate travel time and distance, and get route directions.  Route maps can also be created using this function.  For our current clients who use MapPoint as the data source, this functions works very similarly to CDXRouteMP.  However, while CDXRouteMP performs calculations for driving routes only, Bing Maps can provide time, distance, and directions for walking and transit routes as well.  CDXRouteBing also has an autocopy feature that automatically provides data for an entire list of locations. Here is a short tutorial describing how to use CDXRouteBing:

Latest Data Updates

Canadian and U.S. data feeds of CDXZipStream were updated as of May 26.  There were 1,286 changes made to the U.S. database this month.  If you would like to update your database to reflect these changes, select the "Account" option on the CDXZipStream commandbar and click on "Check for Available Database Updates".  You can then update each database as required.

CDXZipStream updates are a part of the one-year software maintenance subscription included with your purchase.  If you would like to extend your subscription, please sign in to the CDX Technologies website and from the account area for CDXZipStream, select "Buy Data Update".
